Pursuit of Happiness

With the success of Keith's last show he's working even harder towards the next. This one is titled "Lunch Time" and will be presented at the Forthrite Print Shop (5857 San Pablo Avenue Oakland CA 94608)

Continuing his vision that: “Bread is not just a food but also a symbol of status. Contemporary slang elevates the meaning of bread from something that is essential to sustain life, to a word that is used as a benchmark of success

Grown man shoes never looked so smooth!

I picked these up a few months back, but haven't found a chance to break them out until now! They're actually a female model, I definitely wasn't too juiced with the conservative male color options.

If you're not familiar with them, they're a ColeHaan X Nike collaboration. A match made if heaven if you ask me, it's a fine balance between class and sass! A definite head turner at any formal event!

Do Over Portland OR

FOR THE FULL ALBUM CHECK OUT OUR FACEBOOK PAGE. HERE

Last years Adidas party the "Do Over" has gotten me fiend'n for more. The traveling party hits many cities such as New York, LA and just happen to be in Portland on my last summer when I was up north.

Last week while in Portland for a wedding the "Do Over" was in town again I guess our reunion was inevitable. My day started out great the sun was warm in the high 80's, I went to Nike to pick up gear at an employee rate of 50% off - the perks you receive having connections! Following the shopping spree I met up with some good friends for Pomegranate Momosa and brunch. Then the Do Over.

Unfortunately due to popular demands the line wrapped around the block, mind you I came 30 minutes before the venue opened. My good friend Paul Vu was there an hour before so I slipped right in front of him in line. After 2 hours of waiting under the hot sun and people cutting one another like crabs in a bucket I bounced! I manage to take photos but not very many.

Creative dissapointment...

I spotted this rare chunk of knowledge lying on a friends wall while "Facebook stalking" this morning. Generally I can careless about the millions of text graphics floating around Facebook, but this is a definite gem.

creative session design

I personally feel like this is a lesson to ALL level creatives, not only fresh designers. Believe it or not, we are all students in the design game. We all face new projects, clients and competition on a daily basis. Even as an established designer, I still run into as many problems as I did as a student. The only difference is tolerance and experience, these are the things you gain by pushing on and not giving up.

After years of designing professionally, I'm still pulling all nighters trying to make sense of all the shitty designs I produce. Gotta remember, not all designs start off perfect... It takes TONS of crafting and sculpting, but with courage ANYTHING is possible!!!!

Alright, goodnight folks!

ASTRO Brings home GOLD

Some of you may know us personally, others may vicariously live through the fun/boring things we do. Both Anh and I have design jobs by day and batman by night. Congrats to my partner and brother on working on the Nike Fuel Band at his awesome day job with ASTRO STUDIOS (www.astrostudios.com)- Such a successful awesome products this is only the beginning we've got a long design career ahead of us- the goal is pointed towards the clouds. We'll write a detailed posting about this later tonight.

No success.

"Strive for personal excellence, no success, success is what they see, excellence is in yourself."

Homeward bound San Francisco

So if you've been following a few months back we started a collection called "Homeward Bound" the concept was designing graphics inspired by the city each member of Creative Session grew up or lived in. We started em off with the Oregon sweater ( read about it here ) The design became quite a popular peice. We still have people asking about them now- unfortunately being a small company it's tough to do everything we'd like to get done so we had a small run of those sweaters. We're working hard at getting everything we design to people whom admire our design.

Well following the success of the "Oregon" design we'd like to introduce to the world the "San Francisco" addition to the family. LAX and NYC are coming up next.

Maiden Noir - Military Hat Tiger Camo

Maiden Noir is my new found love. It's an evolving  top tier underground fashion brand ran by Nin Troung, a fellow Vietnamese brother also from the Northwest!  Maiden Noir is currently on a FAST come up, their attention to detail and material selection is untouchable!

"Nin Truong, the creative director of Maiden Noir, has cool clothes down to a ‘T', or...er...a jacket. Influenced by the skate and music culture in his hometown of Seattle, he incorporates Japanese fabrics and design to the mix. The result is a long-lasting and innovative line that you'll want to pass on to your grandkids someday."

This is my fourth Maiden piece, and it was NOT an easy cop. Their caps generally sellout within the first few hours!Enjoy :)

Fruit Juice boxes

Catching up on my before work reading i ran into this video! This campaign took the concept of juice boxes literally having 100% fruit juice. Check out the video.

Aviator Travel JIB

I've been learning a bit about making short videos based on all trial and error. Within the last few months I'm investing more time into learning about equipment that can help me capture better videos in which will give me a more dynamic range of shots to edit with. I just found this project on kickstarter and am really interested in having one check em out.

look what showed up in the mail

A few weeks back my friend Amy reached out asking if I was interested in designing their 2012's softball shirts.  Yes,I did design them and also wrote a blog posting about this; Titled "Free Work Free Exercise" -- scroll down a bit. The project was definitely fun to work on and a quick way of brushing up on my graphic design skills. Id like to remind everyone as we should take on non paid projects as often as we are able to. Being that they never have huge requirements and  you have unlimited reign on the final results. Its an awesome way to build confidence and add to your portfolio at the same time.

Any whom a mysterious package showed up in the mail today. I was wondering who this Michael McFeron was.....

Opening up the box I realized a project I worked on a few weeks ago had came back as a pleasant surprise. Amy and Mike had sent me a team shirt with name on the back- Mucho Gracias guys.

Now here is another lesson to keep in mind- when specking out printing detail be sure to make it clear to the print shop of what you want in your artwork file because verbal conversations get lost in translation. My original intent was for a black shirt with gold and white accents. Illustrator has no gold color so I used yellow as a placeholder. The print shop took my document at face value. :) Oh well, it still looks good.

Power of Habit

So i"ve been briefly reading this book and started searching up videos that are related. We all have distinctive habits that are hard to kick. This book is about the power in changing your habits. I believe we can abstractly take the info and apply it in design thinking - the results could be innovative. Check "The Power of Habit" By Charles Duhigg.
